DAY 7 – May 5
📍 Minneapolis → Herington
🚴♂️ Miles: 72
80 miles down yesterday. The grind is real now.
✨ Fun fact: Herington is known as the “City of Beautiful Parks.”
Another weather shift out here… so today turned into a Salina, KS kind of day.
I cruised miles along their flood control bike path – smooth, quiet, and a great place to keep things moving while the weather did its thing.
I stopped by the local bike shop for a tune-up and replaced the rear tire on my spare bike – it wasn’t holding air. Jim had been putting some miles on it while waiting for me to catch up, so we got it back in shape.
I made a stop at a Fresenius dialysis center and met Ken, who works with the University of Kansas School of Medicine. On his lunch break, he checks in on some of his kidney patients – how incredible is that?
I left him with a few cards in case any of his patients are looking for a living donor. You just never know where a connection might happen.
I wrapped up the day riding through one of Salina’s parks.
Different kind of day… but still moving forward.
