WASHINGTON, D.C. Lobby Day

A small group of us from across the United States gathered in D.C. Dec 11th to meet with 101 Congressional Offices explaining the END KIDNEY DEATHS ACT bill, H.R. 2687.

The bill seeks to amend the 1984 NOTA (National Organ Transplant Act) that prohibits the sale of living organ by donors.

We feel that properly regulated and enforced legislation can both prevent the exploitation of donors, create a level playing field for the less affluent people needing a life saving kidney transplant, and greatly increase the number of living kidney donors by compensating them for their act of life saving kindness.

Rep. Derrick Van Orden from Wisconsin District 3, my US Representative, who is one of 44 co-sponsors of the bill.
